FRONTIERSMEN’S REUNION WAS BRIGHT SHOW
Practically all the 174 conference delegates, a strong troupe of entertainers and number of guests attended the Legion of Frontiersmen’s annual reunion on Saturday night. All hands voted it a thoroughly good show. The toast list: “The King”, “The 9,000”, proposed by the Commandant, Col J. C. Findlater; “The British Empire”, proposed by Mr W. Sullivan, M.P.; “N.Z. Command, H.Q.”, proposed by Capt R. Whittaker, reply by Commissioner Lt Col J. C. N. Hyde; “Nurses”, Lt P G. Doherty, Sister Pritchard; “R.S.A.”, Capt J. B. Prior, Mr J. B. Slipper; “Kindred Organisations*’, Lt E. R. Hunt, Supt T. Hurndell (Fire Brigade) and Cpl A. Drube 'St John Ambulance); “W<hakatane”, Capt Bould, Gisborne; The Mayor, Mr Barry; “Absent Comrades”, Capt Carncross; “Visitors”, Lt Smith; “Entertainers”, Sgt-Mjr K. Mole, Messrs H. Hauesler and Anderson; “Press”, Frontiersman C. Bathe, Mr D. C. Stevens. Items were given by Miss D. Stewart, Messrs Hay Brothers, H. Hauesler, H. Waite, Anderson and F. Broadmore.
