WHAKATANE RED CROSS THANKED FOR FOOD PARCEL

Writing on May 20 to the secretary of the Whakatane Branch of the Red Cross Society, Miss Nora Gibson, welfare secretary of the Hull Division of the British Red Cross Society, says: “Yesterday the Hull Division received a wonderful food parcel frrm your branch of the N.Z. Red Cross, and on their behalf I am writing to thank you very much indeed for this lovely gift. Rationing is still' with us here in England, and these food parcels are very welcome indeed to the people who are sick and in need of some extra nourishment.

“Will you please thank Mrs S. S. Shapley personally from me for the beautiful packing of. the parcel, and tell her everything was intact when I opened the parcel yesterday. “It is a wonderful thing to know'' that we have such very good friends in the Red Cross abroad, and I hope that one day we shall be able to do something in return.-”
