Manawahe Road Blocked

A large slip on the main road from Manawahe to Matata cn Sunday night made it unuseable for the early part of this week. Traffic to Manawahe had to travel by way of the Lake Rotoma Hill. County workmen later cleared the slip and the road is now open for traffic. Whodunnit?

Yesterday morning we got a postcard, dated May 31 and posted at Whakatane, asking us to advertise a six-year-old school pony for sale, prospects to apply to the Beacon. The intending advertiser forgot to give his name and address. Would he write again?

Caledonian Dancing Class The Caledonian dancing class on Tuesday night at Whakatane again attracted a large crowd of enthusiasts keen to learn the intricacies of old Scottish dances. Music was played by Mesdames A. • Stewart and E. Fowell and the bagpipes by Messrs S. McMillan and D. McKenzie. Mr T. Anderson was M.C.
