Eightieth Birthday Celebrated

On Sunday a, happy gathering was held, at 1 Haig Street, Whakatane, the occasion being the eightieth birthday of Mrs W. B. Harding. Miss D. Harding assisted her mother to receive the guests. Members of the family present were Mr and Mrs F. Robb, Manu j tuke, Mrs E. Williams, Kaiteratahi, Mr N. Harding, Motueka, Mrs C. C. and Miss Elizabeth Southey, Tauranga, Mr and Mrs D. M. Copland, Linwood Mrs J. T. and Miss Elizabeth Metcalfe, Cambridge. During the afternoon many friends called to congratulate Mrs Harding and congratulatory messages were received from all over the British Empire, including one from her great grandson in London. During the afternoon Mrs Harding cut a large birthday cake which had been made by Mrs Metcalfe and tastefully decorated by Miss Morgan.
