Bowling Club’s Finances Are Now In Sound Position
With assets of £2193 and liabilities of only £272 the finances of the club -were now in a very sound position the president, Mr J. W. Wilson, told members of the Whakatane Bowling Club when presenting his report at the annual meeting on Thursday night. Although little capital expenditure was anticipated last year a new pump had to be installed at a cost of £IOO, he added.
Mr 'Wilson said that because of the importance of water for the greens it was considered that the new pump was necessary. This now provided a most efficient supply, saved a former annual charge made by the borough council and freed the club of worry over any future water restrictions. Referring to the competitions played during the year Mr Wilson said that the club had held five Sunday tournaments, all of which showed a good profit. The Easter fixture was an outstanding success and brought a profit of £2O. \
In the annual shield and cup competitions with Taneatua, although competing well the club was riot successful, Mr Wilson added. Officers elected:— Patron, Mr W. Sullivan, M.P.; president, Mr C. W. Good; vicepresident, Mr C. R. Coates; secretary, Mr E. Johnson; treasurer, Mr A. C. King; auditor, Mr H. C. Warren; selector, Mr W. S. Henderson; coach, Mr D. Anderson; committee, Messrs Henderson, Spong, L. Berg, J. Thompson, E. Bullot, J. Murphy; centre delegates, Messrs Good, Coates and E. Johnson.
