KNOCKOUT TOURNEY OPENS NEW SEASON As was expected for the first few games the standard of play was not high in the knockout tournament of the Whakatane Basketball Association when the 1949 season was opened on Saturday. The outstanding teams were Olympic and Paroa A with Olympic, perhaps, showmg better combination and faster play.
