Deceived By Bogus “Talent Scout”
Accused at Swindon of abandoning her baby, a 20-year-old girl pleaded that she had been deceived by a man who claimed to be a talent scout for an American film company and promised to make her a starlet.
Before the Court was Carol Huish, of Addison Crescent, Oxford, and her brother, Lewis Huish, of the same address, who was charged with aiding and abetting. * Both pleaded not guilty, and the magistrate dismissed the charges.
Mr S. G. G. Humphreys, prosecuting, said that Carol Huish alleged that it was Roy Rochester, of Rivers Road, Highkorth, who represented himself as a film talent scout, and was the father of the child. When she learned of her condition she desired to keep the facts from her father, and arranged for Rochester’s mother to keep the child in the hope that ijt might be adopted. but later the arrangements fell through.
