MANY FASHIONS DISPLAYED AT MURUPARA BALL

The Murupara-Galatea Branch oi the N.Z. National. Party made a highlight in the district’s dancing career last Friday night when they held a ball in the Rangitahi Hall at Murupara. It was a cold and freezing night but it was not long before everyone was warmed up and the evening going with a swing. - The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Kapene and Mr J. Anderson whilst Miss P. Stunnell and Mr Martelli won the popular Quiz-Dance. The women present had made the most of their opportunity and a very colourful array was made by their evening gowns. White lace was chosen by Mrs Keller whilst Mrs Bridgman and Mrs D. Cawte, also in white, preferred embossed satin and figured sheer for their gowns. Black crepe in varying forms was a popular choice. Mrs White’s plain black gown was relieved with a spray of white flowers whilst Mrs Alexander’s gown was decorated with gold studs. Mrs Woller had gold and black sequins in an unusual design on her black dress. Mrs Collins’ black gown, however, had a red yoke with a black design and Mrs Ingram’s gown was of black crepe with a floral design. Red and black floral crepe was Mrs Stothart’s choice whilst Miss Goodue’s gown had a black bodice with a red yoke and skirt. Mrs ■, William’s dress was of black taffeta with an organdie overskirt patterned with red. Blue Well Represented

Just about every shade of blue was represented in one way or another. Mrs Walden and Mrs Kaka. both chose blue crepe as did Mrs G. Cawte. Mrs Webb wore sky blue taffeta and Miss Kapene azure blue whilst Miss Dixon’s gown was of yet another shade of blue taffeta. Iceblue net with a deeper blue design over ice-blue satin was worn by Miss Ingle whilst Mrs Lee’s gown had a navy floral bodice and navy blue net overskirt on plain navy blue. Miss K. King’s gown was of an unusual greyish blue shade with small circles of black beads gs a spaced design. Her sister, Miss H. King, wore a pretty dress of blue silk with net overskirt. Rose pink crepe was chosen by Mrs Caie and pink and blue floral by Miss Lange. Miss Wilson wore, a charming dress with pink lace bodice and flounced pink net overskirt whilst Miss Stunnell’s gown had a black velvet bodice and deep pink taffeta skirt edged with lace. Miss Potaka’s gown was of pink georgette whilst Miss Walker wore pink taffeta. Miss Rewi wore a very pretty gown of pale pink floral satin. Turquoise Also

. Mrs Newton’s gown was of deep turquoise taffeta and Mrs McCaughtrie’s dress was of light turquoise crepe. Mrs Allan wore deep mauve taffeta and Mrs Kinsett chose a dress with a green velvet bodice and green floral crepe skirt. Mrs Sutherland’s dress was of mauve taffeta, Mrs Nettleton’s was of a mauve and white patterned crepe whilst Miss Abercrombie wore green and gold patterned crepe. Mrs Esmond’s gown was a very pretty shade of apricot in taffeta and net. Mrs Fowles wore a white lace blouse' and tartan skirt in shades of brown whilst Mrs Highett wore a gown of wine red velvet,with a pretty white yoke. Miss Walsh and her friend, Miss Rutter, both wore floral crepe gowns whilst Miss Hill wore green crepe decorated with gold sequms.
