Earn Money By A Cough
A well-modulated cough can now be worth about two guineas. This is because the American Federation v, of Radio Artists has elevated coughing to a dramatic art.
A New York radio station wanted to introduce with a cough a programme about tuberculosis. The radiomen’s union ruled that
a staff announcer should not give the cough, because a clause in the union contract with the station provided that a staff announcer should not try to add dramatic embellishments to the script he read. If stations want coughs they will have to employ actors to give them, at normal rates.
