PROVINCIAL OFFICIALS OF LEAGUE OF MOTHERS PAY VISIT TO WHAKATANE

Members of the League of Mothers were privileged to meet Mrs Jered, Provincial President, and Mrs Angus, Provincial Secretary of the League, both of whom were paying an official visit to Whakatane.

The afternoon meeting, chaired by Mrs Metcalfe, in the absence of the president, Mrs I. V. Needham, was held in the Presbyterian Hall There Mrs Jered and Mrs Angus met the mothers asembled, and the former presented a very practical address. She briefly outlined the history of the movement in New Zealand, the aims and objects of the League, and stressed the fact that although it is strictly undenominational, the League must seek to .encourage young mothers to bring up their children on the rock foundations of Christian principles. A home built on anything less than these will not produce honest, worthy citizens which the world so urgently needs today. Following this address, Mrs Angus briefly described some of the activities on the business side of the League in the Auckland Province.
