BOROUGH RATES TO PRODUCE SAME REVENUE AGAIN
Though the Hospital rate is to rise by M from 2M to 3d, total rates approved by the Whakatane Borough Council to be levied for the year 1949-50 work out at exactly the same as those for 1948-49, 193 d, calculated to produce a total revenue of £9875 at 95 per cent collection. Following is a summary of the rates approved, with the 1948-49 figures in parentheses: General rate 10d to produce £SOOO (10|d, £5125), Street lighting, £125 (id, £250), Hospital, 3d, £ISOO (2£d, £1250) Special rates 6£d, £3250 (the same). Sanitary fees are to be £3 5s per annum per pan, and refuse collection 15s per container.
