Pig’s Are Steadily Improving In Galatea & Reporoa
“The newly-developed areas of Galatea and Reporoa have steadily increased their standards of pig husbandry and more than maintained their numbers, but from observation at Ngakuru I would say that held its numbers owing to some of the larger herds being switched over to town supply for Rotorua,” stated Mr A. F. Barwell, supervisor, in his report presented to the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty District Pig Council at Whakatane. “Off-setting this,” he continued, “the Lands Department is in. the process of sub-dividing a large piece of developed land there and eight farms will commence • production with the new season so the number of pigs will be built up again in the very near future.
