In any emergency, on any public occasion where a, helping hand is needed, there one will find members of the Legion of Frontiersmen. At Whakatane, the Legion can muster 15 men at 10 minutes’ notice, any hour of the day or night. It turned out 30 helpers for the police in the recent manhunt, ready to risk life itself in the interests of public safety. Now the Legion wants a hand. Every bit of available accommodation within a radius of 18 miles h'ts been booked for, the Dominion conference here on June 4 and 5, but billets are still needed. Public spir - ited people ready to help may leave their addresses at the Beacon Office.
