Housekeepers Hard To Obtain For Country House Work
Besides maintaining and extending the work of the division assistance had been given various interests such as Bed Cross, parcels for Britain and so on, stated the president’s report presented to the annual meeting of the Awakeri Branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers.
Whilst one of the main objects of the Women’s Division is to provide satisfactory help in the homes of country mothers when necessary, considerable difficulty is experienced in securing suitable housekeepers to carry out this work. However, it is gratifying to know that the services of a housekeeper are at present available and enquiries for help can be made to local housekeeper secretaries. The points prizes for the year for the best flower, fruit and vegetable competitions: Mrs F. Matchitt 1, Mrs L. Roberts 2, Mrs T. Fabish 3. Special points competition: Mrs F. Matchitt 1, Mrs L. Carter Officers elected: President, Mrs F. Matchitt; secretary-treasurer, Mrs T. Fabish; vice-presidents, Mesdames D. Allan and E. C. Haultain; housekeeper secretary, Mrs A. B. Barr; committee, Mesdames C. Wilson, R. Keen, C. McKenzie, Arrol, S. Mahy, L. Carter, J. Rust, D. Wilson; librarian, Mrs R. Keen; sales table secretary, Mrs C. Wilson; magazine secretary, Mrs Fleming; competitions secretary, Mrs C .McKenzie.
