Farmers Want Butter Ration Increased
A suggestion that the Minister of Supply be approached in an endeavour to secure an increase in the ration of butter allowed for seasonal work on farms was made by the Opotiki branch of Federated Farmers, Bay of Plenty Province, to an executive meeting at Matata and received full support.
It was pointed out that the ration was based on the fact that the workers had one meal a day in the field and that this way was very unfair. The ration was nowhere nearly sufficient when it was considered that all the cooking was expected to be done out of it as well.
