Wedding
Porter-Erskine
A very pretty wedding took place on April 23 at St. George’s Anglican Church, Whakatane, of Joyce Hilary, only daughter of Mr and Mrs R. J. Erskine, Manawahe, and Albert Charles, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. L. Porter, of Dunedin. The Rev J. C. J. Wilson officiated.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of sheer over taffeta. The beautiful veil and coronet were gifts from the bride’s aunt in England.
Her shower bouquet was of white Chrysanthemums and Begonias. She was attended by Miss Heather Bell, Edgecumbe, who wore a blue net over taffeta with matching veil and carried a bouquet of lemon Chrysanthemums and/roses.
Mr Jim Erskine, brother of the bride, was best man, and Mr Walter Armstrong was toastmaster. Mrs Erskine assisted by Mrs A. L. Porter, mother of the bridegroom, received the guests. For travelling, the bride wore cornflour blue and navy accessories.
Mr and Mrs Porter will make their home in Hamilton.
