Edgecumbe W.I. Has Two New Members
Although two new members were welcomed at the monthly meeting of the Edgecumbe Women’s Institute two present members were also farewelled. The two newcomers were Mesdames D. G. Hawkins and C. Clark while those who are leaving were Mesdames H. Vollett and S. Ewen.
Following the election of Mrs G. Roberts as secretary, a position made vacant by Mrs Vollett’s resignation, an interesting report of the Council meeting held at Opotiki recently was given by Mrs H. Carter. Competition results:—
Flowers: Mrs G. Simpson 1, Mrs M. Black 2, Mrs A. Blake 3. Scones: Mrs S. Watkin 1, Mrs S. Martin 2, Mrs Blake 3. Gift: Mrs J. Copestake 1, Mrs Blake 2, Mrs K. Magee 3. Jam: Mrs S. Martin 1, Mrs S. Pearce 2, Mrs Magee 3. Vegetables: Mrs Watkin 1, Mrs Magee 2, Mrs J. Black 3. A social competition was won by Mrs P. Ferguson. Hostesses: Mesdames O. Parsons, S. Hodson, Lasenby, H. Anderson. Watkin, G. Irving.
Bring and Buy: Mesdames S. Martin, H. Quayle, A. G. Sim, Colebrook, D. Thompson.
