PRESBYTERIAN YOUTH WORKER HONOURED
On a recent evening, in the Knox Church Hall members of the congregation, Bible Class, and SundaySchool met to do honour to Miss R. Garaway, who, after an association with the youth work of the Church extending over the past 20 years, has decided that she had to relinquish part of it. The first part of the evening was occupied with games, items, and competitions, and then various speakers paid tribute to Miss Garaway’s work. Speaking on behalf of the Sunday School and Bible Class, pupils, Miss H. Shapley, who had been a pupil under Miss Garaway first in the Sunday School and latterly in the Bible Class, thanked Miss Garaway for the work she had put in and for the splendid influence she had exerted. 'Mr H. D. Paterson also spoke on behalf of the Bible Classes. As Superintendent of the Sunday School Mrs K. Schofield expressed her appreciation of the conscientious and faithful service of Miss Garaway as organist and teacher. Mr B. Watts spoke on behalf of the session, and Rev Dodds on behalf of the congregation, thanking Miss Garaway for her long and devoted service.
As a token of thanks and appreciation, Miss Garaway was presented with a fountain pen and pencil set and a string of pearls, and . was accorded musical honours. She replied suitably, and a tasty supper served by the ladies brought a happy evening to a close.
