Band Successful In Championships

A fine performance by P. Moore, Whakatane, netted him first place in the baritone solo in the South Auckland Band. Competitions at Cambridge over Easter. A member of the Whakatane Citizens’ Band, Moore’s effort was particularly notable in that he scored second highest points of any event in the competitions. The Whakatane Band also competed and with much success. It gained three thirds, in'the band selection, hymn test, and quartette. It was fourth in the quickstep while in the duet two Whakatane members, G. Skelton and L. Broadmore were third.
