Six Senior Teams Nominated For The 1949 Rugby Season

Six teams were nominated for the senior competition at the annual meeting, of the Whakatane Rugby ‘Sub-Union. One each from United, Waimana, Poroporo, Wairaka, Taneatua and Paroa. f Public Works, which had only appeared spasmodically during last season, seemed to have died a natural death, the president, Mr N. Semmens, remarked. In the lower four junior ■teams, one from United, Waimana Taneatua'and Paroa, were nominated.

Only two teams came forward for the third grade. United were again , represented and, although dubious at first, Waimana finally nominated a team. With only two entries the executive will have to decide whether this competition will be played this season.
