"Miss New Zealand” Will Be The Guest Of R.A.F. In Britain
When “Miss New Zealand” of 1949 visits Britain next July, she Will be the guest of the Royal Air Forces Association whose president is Marshal of the Royal Air Force Lord Newall, a former GovernorGeneral of New Zealand. ' .
In a letter just received by Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, president of the New Zealand Air Force Association, which is conducting this year’s quest, Air Marshal Sir Robert Saundby, chairman of the National Council of the Royal Air Force Association, has promised the latter organisation’s full support of the quest. The Royal Air Force Association, Sir Robert Saundby said, would be responsible for “showing the sights” to “Miss New Zealand” and would arrange for her to go to various parts of Britain and visit all their branches.
The trip to Britain is the main prize offered to the winner of the quest, which closes on April 30. In addition the winner will be given expense money and a complete wardrobe as well as a film test at a leading British studio. So far no entry has been received from the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
