WHAKATANE HAS GAINED NATIONAL SAVINGS QUOTA
Although there are still a few'? days to go in the present National V Savings campaign, about nine of the \ 352 towns in New Zealand have so-—* far not reached their targets. Well up on the list, Whakatane reached its quota some months ago and has beaten several districts that are of a similar size.
However, postal officials are confident that all quotas Will be attained for the second successive year since the movement was first launched over eight years ago.
The latest post office list of householders shows that the number of householders in New Zealand in-1 creased from 440,644 in September, 1946, to 469,694 in November, 1943. Thus for the next financial year most National Savings quotas, which are based on the number of householders, will be increased slightly. Next year’s Dominion objective will be 5,118,672 with a weekly quota of £98,436.
