Taneatua W.I. Holds Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Taneatua Women’s Institute was held recently, Mrs Grey presiding over a good attendance. Mrs Caverhill and Mrs Withy, Voluntary Organisers, were present by invitation.. By ballot it was Anally decided to hold future meetings the second Monday evening in each month at 7.30 p.m. during winter months and 8 p.m. in the summer. 7 Mrs Caverhill gave an interestingreport of the council meeting, which she had attended in Palmerston North and from her wealth of knowuedge gleaned from many years experience of institute work, Mrs Withy gave the members some good advice
Officers elected: President, Mrs Grey (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames McDonald and Bennett; minutes secretary, Mrs Gardiner (re-elected); correspondence secretary, Mrs K. Tebbutt; treasurer, Mrs Lawn.
Reports were presented by the Drama Circle, Glee Club and Gardening Circle, all showing an enjoyable past year and continuing interest in all activities. At the annual meeting ,of the Drama Circle Mrs McDonald was re-elected president with Mrs Hayward secretary. It was decided to stage the drama “The Frozen Heart” and the comedy ‘The Toby Jug” at the forthcoming drama festival.
The Gardening Circle re-elected Mrs Fitchett as president and Mrs K. Tebbutt as secretary. .Mrs Allen was re-elected president of the Glee Club and Mrs Anderson vice-president. Miss Elaine Cross was re-elected secretary. One member, Miss Jessie Lockington, bad been farewelled during the year.
