GOOD RETAINS CLUB SINGLES TITLE
The Whakatane Bowling Club Singles Championship was decided last week when C. W. Good (two lifer) met L. Berg (one" lifer). In the ensuing game Good, who has won the title on two previous occasions, emerged victor by 17 to 12 points, a final game thus being unnecessary. On the 13th end Berg was three points up on the board* but with consistent drawing. Good scored six single points and a final two to win the title. Cup Representatives Whakatane representatives to playin the Forbes and Ferguson Cup competitions are:— 9 Ferguson Cup (for Championship of Eastern Bay of Plenty), C. W: Good.
Forbes Cup (Premier Fours), :'T. Duley, C. Pearson, S. McKenzie, P. Smoljan (s). % Mr F. J. Griffin, of the Telegraph Branch of the Rotorua Post Office, is to be transferred to Whakatane as telegraph supervisor.New Zealand will be represented at the world conference of wood pulp interests in Montreal late this month by the Commissioner of StateForests, Mr Skinner, and the Director of Forestry, Mr A. R. Entrican, and a representative of the industry.
