New Zealanders On Their Homeland
New Zealanders rushed to the defence of their homeland following the remarks of Gwen Robyns that New Zealand was no place for womenfolk.
The Daily Sun received telephone calls from more than 20 New Zealanders who are either visiting here or who have made homes here. Here are some:—
H. W. Cheeseman (Auckland): ““Women do not work like fury to help husbands, because husbands do Hot work like fury. We’ve had a 40bour week for 11 years.” L. W. Dunlop (Napier): “Domestics are few, but the Government provides free help for families in emergencies.” E. B. Hardie (Palmerston): “There -are plenty of good, cheap foodstuffs 'in New Zealand, and Vancouver has twice as many cafes per capiita as New Zealand, indicating that New ’Zealand men are satisfied with their wives’ cooking.” ,
