Whakatane Club At Rotorua (“Scratch”) Judging by the. stiff handicaps four Whakatane athletes received at the Rotorua Amateur Athletic meeting on Saturday, Whakatane must have some fast runners. All the boys were off virtual scratch in each of their events. In spite of this, they ran exceptionally well, especially W. J. Ramsay, who came sth in the Senior J-Mile in a field of 25. Ramsay, who was scratch man, was put back two yards for “breaking” but had caught most of the field by the second lap. In the 220 and 100 yards events, the fields were too strong for R. Seebeck, W. Grahame and P. Seebeck, who were all back men. Only one place was secured during the day, and that went to P. Seebeck, who came third in his 220 heat. Considerable experience was gained, however, and the boys are itching to have anpther test against Rotorua on more even terms; GOOD MUSTER AT WEEKLY CLUB NIGHT There was a very good muster of competitors at the weekly club night of the Whakatane Athletic Club at the Domain on Tuesday.
