New Records In National Savings
The Head Office of the National Savings movement advises .that for the week ended March 5, 347 of the 352 quota towns in New Zealand attained their National Savings quota, making the largest number of weekly successes this year.
With 'the end of the current campaign in sight 325 towns have reached their annual targets, leaving 27 yet to be successful. Special efforts in the Thames districts were realised last week when the last office outstanding obtained its full annual amount, thereby creating a record for the dlstrict in having 100 per cent success among its 20 quota offices, four weeks before the end of the campaign.
Investments in National Savings since April 1 last exceed £7.000,000 of which £400,000 is from the sale
of bonds. This is no doubt a sound indication that the short term investment provided by National Savings continues to appeal to all sections of the commnnity. The group movement has been strengthened by the establishment of 425 new groups and 14,000 new I group accounts during the past 11 i months. During this period a furj ther 7,500 individual accounts were J also opened. The Thames Postal district is responsible for 550 of the 21,500 National Savings accounts opened since April 1, 1948.
