DRUNK IN CHARGE OF MOTOR CYCLE

Henry Thompson, labourer, is spending 14 days in the Whakatane gaol. Probably he’s kicking himself for trying to start up a motor-cycle outside the Police station while in his cups. Having watched the performance for a moment or so, Constable R. F. 'Julian decided on an arrest.

Sequel was Thompson’s appearance in the Police Court before Messrs H. G. Warren and R. T. Morpeth, J’s.P. on Monday iwhen he pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a motor-cycle, as well as having no license to drive it. He pleaded not guilty to converting the machine, and that charge was dismissed. On the other two he was convicted and sentenced to 14 days’ gaol.

Constable R. F. Julian prosecuted, and Mr G. Otley defended.
