DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS PRODUCED HIGH STANDARD OF COMPETITION IN MOST EVENTS
Budding Athletes
The championship titles provided some keen competition. J. Prince took the boys’ senior championship, J. Morice the junior, and L. Armstrong and C. I Waterhouse were first equal for the intermediate title.
The girls’ championships were well chased but the senior title resulted in a good win for Isobel Grant. Suzanne Briffault annexed the intermediate title and Maureen Campbell became the junior champion.
Rivalry between the four houses became very enthusiastic as the different events were decided, but Selwyn established a very good lead and finally walked away with a convincing win of 190 J points. Wakefield with 169 i points were second, Hobson 125 third and Grey 120 fourth.
