Surprise Party For Bride-To-Be
A number of Miss Verna Head’s frie'nds staged a surprise party for her at her father’s residence in James Street on Thursday night to offer her their best wishes in view of her approaching marriage in Australia. During a gay evening, Miss Head was presented with a glamorous addition to her trousseau, accompanied by the heartfelt felicitations of her friends. She left Whakatane today for Wellington, from which port she expects to sail on Wednesday for Australia, where she is to become Mrs Tom McCarthy.
