Meeting* At Awakeri Next Month (By “Shorty”) It was raining on Tuesday night but that did not stop a number of the enthusiastic members of the Whakatane Athletic Club . turning out .for a run. No competitive events were run off but members indulged in some good training in preparation for the Awakeri gymkhana next month., The Whakatane Club will be controlling the athletic side of the gymkhana and it is expected that a number of visiting athletes will be there on the day, as well as Ray Dawson, the Te Teko runner. It has been registered as an athletic meeting. Tuesday the weekly club nights will be continued at the Domain and it is hoped to be able to eet away to a good start, right on the tick of six p.m.
