The Work Of The Heritage Movement Still Continues
The monthly meeting of the Executive of Heritage (Hamilton) (Inc) was presided over by Mr W. Fraser and reports presented indicated that the work of assisting widows and children of deceased servicemen has continued quietly and steadily. Thirty-seven cases in 23 different towns were dealt with and help given where necessary. Direct grants amounting to £SB were approved. Contact with the families has been maintained by correspondence and by personal visiting from time to time by the secretary who reported on visiting in the Paeroa, Te Aroha, Mt Maunganui, Tauranga and Huntly areas. ■ Christmas presents were posted out to 221 children in 60 different towns or townships and this in some small way helped to show the mothers that the sacrifice of the father at the war had not been forgotten. Three Heritage boys had been given a three weeks holiday each at the Y.M.C.A. Boys’ Camp at Waiomu on the Thames Coast, and appreciation was expressed to the Hamilton Y.M.C.A. in providing this holiday without charge.
Parcels of used postage stamps are still being received, the proceeds of the sale of which will help the funds of Heritage. The executive invite business firms and private individuals to help by sending in parcels of used stamps to the secretary for disposal.
