Te Teko W.D.F.F. Meeting
The Te Teko Women’s Division of Federated Farmers held its opening meeting for 1949 in the Domain with Mrs Thomas presiding over a fair attendance. A new member, Mrs Walker, was welcomed. Grateful acknowledgments for donations were ' received from the United Orphanages’ Association, the Leper Fund and the Pan Pacific Women’s Conference Committee, and Division members passed a hearty vote of thanks to Messrs R. W. Glen and Sons for their generous donations of sweets to the children’s Christmas party. After full discussion, it was decided that in future the Division’s crockery would not be available for hire unless the persons hiring it made* one of their members responsible for the crockery while in their possession and ensured its safe return to the Division. Bank books, with the usual donations, were presented to Babies Costello, Lyon and Briggs. Mesdames Burr and Hendl gave a very interesting and instructive demonstration of mop making and members were reminded that, at the next meeting Mrs Goodwin will give a dressmaking demonstration, when those who wish for help in solving their sewing problems should bring samples of the work with them. The mystery parcel was won by Mrs Burr. Competitions:— Unusual scene: Mrs Butler 1, Mrs S. Cannell 2. Best bloom: Mrs Gardiner 1, Mrs Jamieson 2. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Balfour and Waltegrave.
