Mrs A. W. Winstone, who has been at Wellington on Red Cross business since Tuesday, returns to Whakatane today.
Mr and Mrs Thomas Morgan leave Whakatane next week for Auckland on the first stage of a visit to Australia. They will cross the Tasman by air on March 3.
Mr C. D. Molesworth, a member of the staff of the Tauranga Borough Council, has been appointed to the position of foreman-engineer to the Whakatane Borough Council. Mr Molesworth will on Monday take up his new duties.
Mr R. Pelham, Wellington, a member of the New Zealand Surf Association, and a former Maori All Black, left Whakatane on Tuesday to attend the New Zealand Swimming Championships at Auckland. Mr Pelham is returning to Waihi to judge the National Surf Championships, which commenced there today. While at Whakatane Mr and Mrs Pelham stayed with Mr and Mrs P. E. Lynds.
Sympathy for the widow and relatives of the late Mr J. Kehoe, former traffic inspector at Whakatane, who was killed in the recent shooting incident at Poroporo was expressed by the Whakatane County Council yesterday. The chairman paid a tribute to his services and it was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs Kehoe.
