Whakatane To Have Own Pony Club Soon
Recent visit of the Pony Club cavalcade to Whakatane stirred upinterest that has been simmering ever since and which boiled up over the week-end into a move to farm, a club here. Amongst visitors to the show were Mr L. Swarbrick, j of Morrinsville, Pony Club Commissioner, and his daughter, who is on& of the eight holders of the Pony* Club’s A grade certificate in riding and horse management. Mr Swarbrick met a hastily-con-vened meeting of local enthusiasts on Sunday, and the first steps to form a club were taken.
Those present, about 18 in alii banded themselves into a provisional committee with the intention of getting district delegates to attend a general meeting on jthe evening of March 10. Mr G. Fogerty acted as chairman on. Sunday, and Mrs R.S Cobbe was elected secretary of the provisional committee. It is hoped on March 10 to constitute the Club and elect its first executive.
