p Mr B. S. Barry, mayor of Whakatane, at present attending the an- ! nual conference of the Municipal Association at Napier, was elected a vice-president of the Association last week. Mr. T. D. Urquhart, well-known to the farming community of South Canterbury and Bay of Plenty, died on February 5, after a short illness. For the last four years he was inspector of stock for the Timaru district. Born at Green Island, in 1887, 'Mr Urquhart joined the Department of Agriculture at Clyde and remained in the service for 38 years. For a number of years he served In the North Island, particularly in the Auckland Province area
