Thornton W.I. Meets After Two Months Recess

After a recess of oyer two months the Thornton Women’s Institute held their February meeting in the garden of Mrs H. F. McDonald. There was a good attendance and two new members were enrolled. Arrangements for entries in the A. and P. show to be held at Whakataen on Saturday were finalised while schedules for the Thornton show, sponsored by the Institute and to be held in March, were distributed. Mrs Ducker was re-elected president unopposed. Competition results:— Preserved fruit: Mrs D. Branch 1, Mrs Law 2. Soft toy: Mrs Hefferman 1, Mrs McGee 2. .Vegetables: Mrs McGee 1, Mrs Sheat 2. Best flower: Mrs Law 1, Mrs McDonald 2. Best vegetable: Mrs Sheat 1, Mrs McDonald 2. Hostesses were Mesdames L. Smith, Gardner and Lennon.
