Mobile Church Unit Pays Short Visit To Whakatane
Take the church to the people. That is the idea behind the Pitt Street, Auckland, Methodist Church Mobile Unit that visited Whakatane lgst Tuesday. In charge of the president of the Methodist Church in New Zealand, the Rev E. T. Olds, who was accompanied by the Rev B. Riseley, both of Auckland, the unit conducted services and lectures at Whakatane. It is almost a miniature church on wheels, equipped with a film projector and radio and loud-speak-er system for open-air meetings. During the visit the Rev Olds gave an address, which was open to all who desired to attend. He reminded the people of the work of the church and the forces that the church had to face in the world today. The challenge of Communism would have to be met but he was sure that the church would overcome the obstacles as it had done in the past.
