Rangitaiki Church Has Successful Picnic At Thornton
The Rangitaiki Presbyterian Church congregation picnic held at Thornton Beach on Saturday was very successful, the weather bolding fine until after the picnickers had left the beach. The tide was just right, ice creams were numerous, also hot pies, lollies and stacks of delicious sandwiches and cakes. Children in particular doing full justice to the occasion, and enje T ' -' themselves to the limit. Cricket, and races were some of the entertainment provided, races resulting as follows: Girls and boys under 6: Nancy Sim 1, John Watkin 2, Patricia Cole 3. Girls 7-10: Isobel Gow 1, Jean Kirk 2, Beverley Watkin 3. Boys 7-10: Angus Watson 1, Michael Harris 2, John Wollett 3. Girls 10-11: Marjorie Hawkins 1, Awyn Andresen 2, Patricia Walsh 3. Girls 12-14: Dulcie Learning 1, Lynley Wilkens 2, Margaret Andresen 3. Boys 11 and over: Robert Cunning* ham 1, Colin Hammond 2, Charlie Peters 3. Relay race: Brice and Platt Gow, Barbara Cole and Lynley Wilkens dead heat, 1. Sack race, senior girls: Dulcie Learning 1, Barbara Cole 2, Judy Radcliffe 3. Junior girls and boys: Robin Gow 1, Jean Kirk 2, Michael Harris 3. Three-legged race, boys and girls: Barbara Cole and Dulcie Learning 1, Margaret Andresen and Lynley Wilkens 2. Robin Gow and Jean Kirk 3.
