A large number of friends attended a gift evening to Miss Meryl Grover, who is to be married shortly, in the Waimana Hall on Thursday night. Dancing was held, the music being supplied by King’s Orchestra. Following supper Mr N. Eagle asked Miss Grover and Mr A. Head, Whakatane, whom Miss Grover is marrying, to accept the many gifts. He paid a tribute to both guests and referred to the assistance they had given the Waimana Tennis Club. Similar tributes came from Mr D. Woolfield representing the tennis club and Mr F. Mitchell on behalf of the Waimana R.S.A., who referred to the fact that Miss Grover was the Association’s only ' woman member.
