Charlton —Sharman
The wedding took place recently at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, of Miss Joan Lilian Sharman, only daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Sharman, Whakatane, and James Ronald Charlton, elder son of Mr and Mrs J. Charlton, Wellington. The Rev. R. T. Dodds officiated. Dr A. W. Fletcher Cole was organist. The bride w;as escorted by her father, and wore a charming gown of georgette, with joke and angel sleeves of lace wiith pointed bodice finished with frills and a large, soft bow. The full gathered skirt falling into a long train which had a lace true lovers’ knot let into it. Her full veil was held in place with a halo of pleated mohair and lace leaves outlined with orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lillies and tuber roses. The chief bridesmaid, Miss J. Charlton, Wellington, wore a georgette frock of aqua blue, made with long tucked bodice and full skirt. The other bridesmaid, Miss P. Stuart, Whakatane, was similarly frocked in primrose yellow. Both wore flower circlet head dress and carried bouquets to tone. Mr Noel Butler, Auckland, was best man and Mr C. Sharman was groomsman. The reception was held at the Masonic Hall. Mrs P. Sharman, in a teal costume with black accessories and Mrs J. Charlton, in dusty pink moire silk with brown accessories received their guests carrying bouquets to tone. Mr and Mrs Charlton will make their home in Auckland.
