Boys' Brigade Hold Their Annual Camp On Whale Island
Representatives from Opotiki, t Taneatua, Ohope and Whakatane ' companies attended the annual camp of the Bay of Plenty Battalion of the Boys’ Brigade held on Whale Island, just off Whakatane, from January 22 to 29. The party was taken to and'from the island by the Port Whakatane Harbour Launch and throughout the camp there were no accidents. The transporting of the party and all the gear was a big job in itself. During the camp there was a full programme for each day and discipline in the camp was very strict. Meals were well prepared, and a bit of variety was introduced by having goat stew and roasted goat, cooked in a Maori hangi. The weather was fine throughout the stay on the island and the party finally returned to Whakatane fate last Saturday afternoon.
