' Te Teko defeated Edgecumbe at Edgecumbe last-'week-end after ’an exciting finish, Te Teko missing an outright win by one run at call of time. Scores: Edgecumbe Ist innings 67, 2nd innings 123; Te Teko Ist innings 152, 2nd innings 3 for 38, The wicket and outfield were in perfect order and high praise gees to the members of Edgecumbe Club 'who mowed the whole field with lawnmowers. Edgecumbe batted first and an opening .partnership by K. Tunnicliffe'4o and Thurlow, 12, gave the side a good start, but the Te Teko • bowlers, Patterson and Lyons, had the rest of the batsmen in difficul- v : ties. Bowling: Patterson 6 for .25, Lyons 3 for 36. ; . Te Teko lost two wickets > for •28 when a fine partnership by Lyons 64, and Patterson, 52, put Te Teko well in the lead on the Ist innings, the side being dismissed for 152. Bowling: Porter 3 for 6, Campbell 2 for 4, Thurlow 4 for 52. / Edgecumbe’s second innings opened briskly and the team put on 123 runs before they were finally dismissed, leaving Te Teko 39 ryns to get for an outright win with 20 minutes to go.
