Quality Evident In Tuhoe Yearlings
(By “Arrissimo”) The annual parade of Tuhoe thoroughbred yearlings was held atthe stud farm, Waimana, during the-week-end. There was a large crowd present. Youngsters paraded showed a lot of quality, but were not so well done as on previous occasions and not so well grown. This can be attributed to the fact that most of them were late foals, the biggest percentage being born in November. Horses’ ages are computed from August 1, which makes a material difference in size to those born three months later. In all fourteen yearlings, eight of the weaker sex of the twelve to be presented at the National Yearling Sales, to four colts. The stud sire Pictavia was paraded, looking a picture of health after a strenuous season at the stud. The successful sire Revelation was also paraded. This 17-year-old sire who has been doing stud duties at the Alton Lodge Stud for the past three seasons, will in future be stationed at his old home at Tuhoe.
