Magician Stole Jap Emperor's Thunder
Thousands of excited Japanese lined the 20-mile stretch of highway between Kobe and Osaka, waiting to catch a glimpse of their Emperor. In the distance, from the direction of Kobe, a car appeared, and, a great roar rose from the crowds, to be passed along the route to those who could not see. “The Emperor! Hirohito! Banzai!” In the car which caused this commotion was a slightly-astonished stage magician called Mr Rooklyn, and his driver. When he saw what had happened, Rooklyn, hating to disappoint the good citizens, stood up and bowed gracefully. A few minutes later the real Emperor turned into the highway from a side street, and some very confused Ja-,,s . started cheering all oyer, again,. .. J.
