BREAD DELIVERY
Sir,—The purpose of this letter is to try to find out if it is possible to have bread delivery resumed in Whakatane. In 1941, when we came to Whakatane, all bakers delivered, and a good service it was too. We all know why the service was discontinued, but the war has now been over several years. A list of reasons could be given showing the need for bread delivery, but these will be known to most people. Perhaps others would like to give their opinions on this- matter. The bakers may have legitimate reasons for not resuming the service. Maybe they could give their views on the matter. However, I am satisfied in my own mind, that in a community the size of Whakatane, bread delivery is essential. I would like to point out that bread delivery has been resumed in most places. I think husbands, as well as housewives, have decided views on this subject, as in many homes where there are small children the ‘chore’ of bread collecting is passed on to ‘dad’ whenever possible.
Yours etc., AGNES DITCHFIELD,
