December meeting of the Manawahe Women’s Institute was held in the local hall, presided over by Mrs Bowden. There was a large attendance. The children’s Christmas treat was discussed and it "was decided to hold a Christmas Tree as usual. The exchange of'..gifts amongst members certainly brought the Christmas feeling, to the meeting Two new members were enrolled. Afternoon tea, served by Mesdames Jones and. King, closed a busy, happy afternoon. Competition results:— Article for Christmas tree: Mrs Bowden 1, Mrs Appleby 2. Best shrub: Mrs Mikkelsen 1, Mrs King 2. . Best flower: Mrs L. Rendall 1, Mrs Ansell 2.
