Mr Ron Adcock has passed in theory in the recent plumbing examinations, held for the first time in their history at the Whakatane District High School. Mr S. W. Hills, Postmaster / at Whakatane, has received notice of his transfer to Hawera, to take effect in the New Year. He is going back to a district that knows him. well, as he has previously been Postmaster at Patea and at Eltham. Mr E. F. Thompson, Traffic Assistant, commenced duties at the Edgecumbe Railway Station recently. Mr Thompson is from the Auckland shunting yards, and has filled the vacancy caused by the transfer of Mr K./Phillips. Miss Beryl Brashier is spending a short holiday with her friend Miss Wilson, of Whakatane. Mr /T. Muncaster, of the Auckland Court staff, has been appointed to succeed Mr Thomas Morgan as Clerk of the Court at Whakatane on the latter’s retirement on December 30.
