MEAT SCHEDULE PRICES: NEW SYSTEM. ADOPTED
The New Zealand Meat Produc-
ers Board announces that at the re-quest-of Meat Exporters throughout New Zealand, the Board had agreed to permit them to determine in-, dividually the movements in prices paid to producers for their fat stock. This is a departure from the previous system whereby official schedules were fixed by a committee representative of the Meat Board, the Government and the Meat Operators. The Board will, however, closely examine and watch this new procedure. Meat Exporters, using as the foundation the opening schedule approved by the Meat Board, will be expected to reflect wool growth and wool values by price adjustments, according to the factors of carcase weight in each district in such a way as to ensure that producers receive fair and reasonable prices for their stock. , The Meat Board will continue to assemble the requisite data by which to judge whether producers are receiving fair treatment. If at any time the Board considers that prices offered are unfair, it will take steps to remedy the position. Should any producer consider prices in his particular case are not reasonably in line with values, he can avail himself of the “Open Door” policy of the Board and have his stock treated and sold on his oaXui account.
