New Plunket Room At Edgecumbe
The official opening of the new Plunket room at Edgecumbe took place on Monday. It was a beautiful day, and quite a number of mothers attended. Mrs Spiers, on behalf of the committee of the Rangitaiki Sub-Centre, presented Mrs A. Thomson, president, also Mrs J. Irving, secretary, with bouquets, and congratulated them on their achievement. Mrs,E. Haultain, a past member, also received flowers and was thanked heartily for the help she had always given. * Nurse Pearce, who now v works in conjunction with Nurse E. M. Armstrong also received a floral spray. Mrs Thomson addressed the gathering, explaining that all the work for the new rooms had been done voluntary, and sincerely thanking all those who had helped in any way, also Tunnicliffe Timber Coy., Ltd., who had reduced the price of all timber supplied to half cost. This brought hearty applause from the gathering. After a few further remarks, Mrs Thomson declared the room open. Competition winners: Rocking horse, Delphia Burgess, strawberries, Helen Andersen, cockerel, Mrs Busby, iced cake, M. Luke, box chocolates, A. N. Irving, butter, B. Walsh.
